Looking
Forward to the New Year
A New Year is beginning and there
is always a strong pull for New Year resolutions
and changes that will be made to improve
oneself.
In the coming year, the FIFUL staff looks
forward to equipping young leaders with
spiritual tools for urban leadership, but this
is nothing new. In fact, we would like to share
with you specifically how FIFUL programs have
shown these changes in attitudes of the students
after going through our training:
·
We see a 20%
change in students believing the Bible speaks
clearly about issues of social injustice, and
100% of students leave the training believing
this.
·
There is a 20%
change in students believing social problems
should be major concern of church, and 100% of
students leave FUI believing this.
We have also
seen the following transformations while equipping
college students who come through InterVarsity
and the FIFUL leadership trainings:
·
There is a 30%
change in students becoming very concerned about
social problems; however 80%
of students leave the trainings concerned about
these issues.
·
We see a 30% change
in students believing they can have significant
impact on problems in community and 65% of
students leave our program believing this.
In fact, our Wise Old Owl Program director May
Tag Yang asked the volunteer WOO tutors what
one thing they learned this semester. Their responses supported our statistics:
“Those
who lose their life will get life…I feel
that giving my time to WOO is so much more
worth it than serving my own needs back at
home.”
“I thought I would be the one that teaches kids,
but instead the kids have been teaching me.”
“First impressions of downtown Fresno are
incorrect. I have learned to love this
community and the people who live here, rather
than fear it.”
Our FIFUL
staff is committed to increase
our effectiveness in changing young lives for
the better. We thank you for your prayers and
support as we continue on with this
transformative work.
“…being confident of this, that he who began a
good work in you will carry it on to completion
until the day of Christ Jesus.”
